Community Resource Navigation Program

Background

Established in 2023, our Community Resource Navigation Program is an expansion of Partnership for Strong Families’ (PSF) Family Resource Center (FRC) Network. Leveraging community partnerships, the Community Resource Navigators (CRNs) use shared space, within communities not currently served by our FRCs to meet in person with families and individuals and provide a variety of family support services, programs, and special events. With generous funding from the Children’s Trust of Alachua County, the CRNs currently serve six rural Alachua County communities.

Scope of Services

CRN staff assist families and individuals with immediate needs like food, clothing, and housing. They also support families identify strengths and areas for improvement, such as financial stability, employment, education, and mental health, set goals, and connect them to community resources.

Staff also help patrons navigate existing systems and overcome common barriers to service attainment and ongoing self-sufficiency. This may include community outreach, hosting special community events, regularly assessing and adjusting to community needs, and listening to the voices of the communities served.

All services provided by the CRN program are tied to one of the protective factors, which are known to reduce the risk of abuse or neglect when present in families. These five protective factors are parental resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete support in times of need, and social and emotional competence of children.

Child abuse is preventable
We can help change the lives of many children and teens.

A hallmark of PSF’s system of care is our belief that child abuse is preventable. We have found that by providing resources and supports to families in need on the front end, many can avoid reaching the crises that lead to formal child welfare involvement functions.

Monetary donations throughout the year are a huge help to the children we serve. We accept donations by check, which can be mailed to our office or through the Philanthropy Hub link here.
